Where being heard comes first

Sometimes you just need space to think out loud with someone who won't rush you, won't fix you, won't perform. Just someone who's there, listening.

I'm Joanne, a psychology student training to become a counsellor. I offer online supportive conversations. Not therapy, not fixing, just a space where you can think out loud with someone who listens.

Sometimes we're surrounded by people yet feel alone. We know something's off but can't name it. That's where these conversations help. Giving you room to explore without someone rushing you through it.

This isn't clinical treatment. I'm not licensed. What I offer is presence, patience, and a space where your thoughts matter.

Supportive conversations in progress

What to expect

We meet online for one or two hours, and you decide where we go. Maybe you're working through something, processing what happened, or just need to be heard. I'm here to listen without trying to fix you.

Who this is for

People who need space to talk things through. Not a replacement for therapy or crisis help, but genuine conversation with someone who understands that healing takes time.

Transparency matters

I'm a psychology student in training, not licensed to diagnose or treat. These sessions help fund my education while giving you affordable access to supportive conversation. And I think there's value in that honesty.

Simple, clear options

1 Hour Session

Time to explore one topic or concern

2 Hour Session

Space for deeper conversation

All sessions are online via secure video call. You'll receive booking confirmation and session link after scheduling.

About Me

Joanne

From silence to being heard

I'm a psychology student aspiring to become a counsellor. But before any of that, I was a kid who learned to be quiet. To take up less space. To carry shame like it was mine to hold.

I grew up in an unstable household where safety was never guaranteed. I was bullied, told I wasn't enough in a hundred different ways. So I became smaller, quieter. I disappeared into video games, plants, and lifting weights. Things that didn't judge me.

Healing happened slowly: moving to Vancouver alone, meeting my partner and learning what steady love feels like, getting married in Switzerland. At 33, I changed careers not because I had it figured out, but because I finally gave myself permission to want something different.

Why I do this work

I know what it's like to carry voices that tell you you're broken. To feel surrounded by people yet completely alone. And I know what it's like to slowly, painfully, beautifully discover that none of that was true.

I offer these sessions because being heard changed my life. That's what I want to offer you. Not fixing. Not advice. Just presence. Just listening.

What I bring

I practice person-centred listening, which means you guide where we go. I follow your pace. No agenda, no diagnosis, no treatment plan. Just you, your story, and someone who gets it.

I'm not fully healed and I don't know if anyone ever is. I'm still unpacking my own patterns. And maybe that's exactly why I can hold space for yours.

What I'm not

I'm not a therapist, psychologist, or licensed practitioner. I can't diagnose you, treat mental illness, or provide crisis intervention. What I will do is listen. Really listen. The kind that hopefully makes you feel less alone.

Sessions

A space to talk things through

Sessions are structured conversations held online where you have my full attention. No multitasking, no distractions, no performing. Just genuine listening.

What sessions are

  • Supportive conversation: Space to process thoughts, explore feelings, or talk through decisions
  • Confidential space: What you share stays between us (with legal exceptions explained in Boundaries)
  • Your agenda: You decide what to talk about and where the conversation goes
  • Online only: Sessions happen via secure video call from wherever you're comfortable

What sessions are not

This is important to be clear about:

  • Not therapy: I'm not licensed to provide psychotherapy or clinical treatment
  • Not crisis intervention: If you're in immediate danger or crisis, please contact emergency services
  • Not diagnosis or treatment: I can't diagnose mental health conditions or prescribe treatment plans
  • Not advice-giving: I won't tell you what to do, but I'll help you explore your own thinking

Session options

1 Hour Session $40

Enough time to explore one concern or theme. Good for focused conversations.

2 Hour Session $75

Extended space for deeper exploration. More room to let conversations unfold naturally.
